Ahir was addressing a farmers rally organised at Krishi Uthpanna Bazar Samiti of Arni on World Soil Day yesterday.
"Farmers should seek the advise of the agriculture officers and then select for the crop so that they should be able to have a better yield. They should also get soil tested from the authorised soil testing labs in the region," he said.
The minister has distributed the soil health cards to the farmers at the function.
In his address, Patil said the farmers should know the health of their soil, for which government has set up a number of soil testing labs across Maharashtra.
The rally was attended by scores of farmers of the district.
