In their joint letter to Modi, CPI(M) and CPI general secretaries, Sitaram Yechury and S Sudhakar Reddy respectively, today expressed concerns that the schemes assured ahead of bifurcation of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh last year are yet to be put in operation, affecting growth of economically backward region in the state.
"We are of the strong opinion that promises made to the people and assurances given to Parliament must be immediately addressed and consequently all the proposed schemes for development are put in operation.
They added that before dividing the state to create Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, MPs from Left parties had raised several issues regarding economic backwardness of the region.
"Unfortunately, there has been no forward movement on any of these assurances that were then given by Central government (led by UPA) and later repeated by your government after you assumed office as Prime Minister," they wrote to Modi.
