Police said Heera Singh (60) and his son Dilbag (24) were constructing a temporary shed to store straw for animals and a piece of their construction structure went towards the house of their neighbour Nirmal Singh, an ex- serviceman.
Angered over the development, Nirmal allegedly opened fire from his licensed double barrel gun on Heera and his son Dilbag and shot them dead on the spot, police said.
SSP Batala Diljinder Singh, DSP Dera Baba Nanak Harpal Singh and SHO Kotli Surat Malhi Balwinder Singh reached the spot after the incident.
The bodies of the victims were sent to civil hospital here for postmortem examination.
