A senior Trinamool Congress party leader said here today that the 'Federal Front', which is much different from the Third Front, would corner more than 100 seats after the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
"No government will be formed in Delhi without the support of Trinamool," All India Trinamool Congress Party national spokesman Derek O'Brien told reporters in Goa today.
"This is a Federal Front which is a collection of good chief ministers who have developed their own states. Federal Front will will more than 100 seats in parliament," he said.
O'Brien said that Trinamool had no alliance with any other party.
"People who have seen the development work of the Trinamool Congress party have remained with it," he said.
"We believe that we will be the third largest party in the 16th Lok Sabha," he said, adding that, "The Congress is not an option to the BJP, and the BJP is not an option to the Congress".
He said that the Trinamool Congress is in talks with Jayalalitha in Tamil Nadu as well as chief ministers of Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.
He said that the Federal Front concept rests on two pillars -- the first pillar is a 'neither Congress nor BJP' approach and the second one is a pro-development outlook.
The Trinamool Congress is contesting from the South Goa seat where its candidate Churchill Alemao is pitted against BJP's Narendra Sawaikar and Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco of the Congress.
