Bollywood playback singer Sonu Nigam's sister Teesha says coming from a family of great musicians like her father and brother, she feels responsible to take forward the legacy with same passion.
Teesa, 25, who made her Bollywood singing debut with 2013 film "Singh Sahab the Great", says she feels no pressure being the sister of one of India's most celebrated singers and in fact considers it a blessing.
"There's no pressure. But there's a responsibility. I feel responsible because I have a great family legacy to take forward. My brother is an idol to so many. My father himself is a great musician so, I need to continue that thing," Teesha told PTI.
"I feel blessed to be a part of the family that has this level of music enthusiasm. It gives you even more confidence."
Teesha is now set to release her first single "Katna Nai", establishing herself as an independent artist and the singer is looking forward to it.
"This song is originally sung by Sajjad Ali. I wanted to come up with a modern version of it as I thought it's a perfect song to start your career as a single.
"My version doesn't sound like original at all. It is very special and close to my heart," she said.
The singer said Sonu helped her a lot while making of "Katna Nai" and also gave his inputs to make it as best as possible.
"He was totally involved in the making of this song. He also gave his inputs and helped me on variations. It was like a family thing."
Her brother may have sung for almost every male actor, but Teesha would specifically like to give her voice to Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt.
"There are so, many actresses I really want to sing for but Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt are my favourite.
