The FIFA U-17 World Cup is being held in India from October 6 to 28 this year.
"The September 8 event will be part of the Mission Million we are organising to mark the tournament," the minister told reporters at Mantralaya here.
"On that day, the entire Maharashtra will turn into one happy playground," he added.
"One lakh footballs have been distributed in one over 30,000 schools in Maharashtra as part of Mission Million," the minister said.
A football tournament for legislators is also being organised next week, Tawde said.
Two teams, called the Speaker's Eleven and the Chairman's Eleven will compete in it, the minister added.
