The 34-year-old said there have been trials and tribulations that have come with the role of Christian Grey, reported Mirror.
"To me or any actor that is involved in any franchise, it is just another job and you move on to the next thing," he said.
Dornan revealed that he always knew he did not want to do a normal 9-5 job as a pen pusher.
"I wasn't a great student at school, history wouldn't have been where my attention was heading.
Dornan said acting happened to him by chance as he'd never thought of coming into films.
"I got an agent at a point I wasn't sure I wanted to be an actor. If I was ever in LA I'd go to classes there, but I do think it's an instinctive craft.
