Filmmaker attempts record for most translated documentary

A Hyderabad-based documentary filmmaker today attempted to create a Guinness World Record for the most translated short documentary here by releasing his work dubbed into 15 languages.
Documentary producer and director Prudhvi Raj released the eight-minute documentary "Sarnath - The Sacred Place", translated in 15 languages, at an event here coordinated by Chief Scientific Officer of Dr A P J Abdul Kalam Research Centre Subramanian.
According to Subramanian, the previous record with 11 translations is held by 2014-released "Lepakshi", by Andhra Pradesh-based Rajendra Vinod.
"Sarnath" is about the Dhamek Stupa in Uttar Pradesh, which is one of the most visited and revered Buddhist shrines in the world, he said.

The documentary has been dubbed in English, Malayalam, Gujarati, Urdu, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Arabic, Oriya, Assamese, Mauritian Creole, Bhojpuri, Khortha and Bangla, he said.
The effort would be sent to the Guinness Book of World Records for recognition, he added.
