FIR against youth for raping woman on pretext of marriage

A woman was allegedly raped by a youth on the pretext of marriage at Farah town in the district following which an FIR has been lodged against the accused, police said today.
The victim, who is in her early 30s, was raped by one Jitendra alias Jeetu last week after developing intimacy with her and promised to get married, SSP Rakesh Singh said.
However later the accused backed down from the promise and on May 9, criminally assaulted the woman and threatened her with dire consequences if she revealed about the incident to anyone, the SSP said.
The victim, who is a divorcee, has been sent for medical examination and if needed she would be present before the magistrate for her statement, he said.

An FIR was lodged in this connection, the SSP said, adding that hunt is on to nab the accused.
