Information was received at police control room that second floor of multi-storyed Shakti Bhawan in Hazratganj area on which local police and fire tenders reached the spot promptly, he said.
The spokesman said that some persons were trapped on the fifth floor due to smoke and fire.
While some were crying for help, others even attempted to jump from the fifth floor, but they were rescued safely, he said.
The officials said that some files were damaged in the fire.
