The goods kept in the canteen got damaged but there was no casualty reported as the establishment was closed being a Sunday, defence spokesperson Col. S D Goswami said.
Short-circuit is suspected to be the cause for the fire, he added.
"The fire brigade of the Air Force was quick to douse the flames," Goswami said, adding, the district administration officials also reached the spot.
An enquiry has been ordered into the incident.
