A fired cartridge was recovered from the house of a government official near here on Saturday, a police spokesman said.
A case was registered under relevant sections of the law at Jhajjar Kotli police station on Jammu-Srinagar national highway and investigation started, the spokesman said.
The fired cartridge was recovered from the house of government official Deewan Singh in the Sanoo area, the spokesman said.
Quoting the family of Singh, the police said they noticed the fired cartridge lying on the floor when they came out after hearing the sound of firing.
"After the incident senior police officers visited the area and interacted with the public. The people have been requested not to pay heed to rumours," the spokesman said.
