Firm global cues lift base metals

Base metal prices rose by Rs 2 per kg at the non-ferrous metal market today, tracking a firming trend overseas and increased demand from consuming industries.
Traders said sentiments remained firm after base metals advanced in global markets as China home prices dropped in fewer cities for a third month and the US Federal Reserve signalled a cautious approach to raise interest rates.
Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months rose 1 per cent to USD 5,805 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
In the national capital,copper mixed scrap and nickel plate (4x4) were up by Rs 2 each to Rs 408 and Rs 1,015-1,020 per kg respectively.
Zing ingot, lead ingots and lead imported were enquired higher by Re 1 each at Rs 117-123, Rs 107 and Rs 108 per kg respectively.
Following are today's metal rates (in Rs per kg): Zinc ingot Rs 117-123, Nickel plate (4x4) Rs 1,015-1,020, Gun metal scrap Rs 227, Bell metal scrap Rs 229, Copper mixed scrap Rs 408, Chadri deshi Rs 285.
Lead ingot Rs 107, Lead imported Rs 108, Aluminium ingots Rs 158, Aluminium sheet cutting Rs 159, Aluminium wire scrap Rs 161 and Aluminium utensils scrap Rs 158.
