First hotel opens at Aerocity, J W Marriot

The first hotel at Aerocity, J W Marriot, was today officially opened here after a delay of about nine months from their original schedule.
Inaugurating the 523-room hotel, which is the fifth in the country by the group, Chairman and Managing Director of Asian Hotels West Ltd, Sushil Gupta said they had to face 20 per cent project overcost and delayed by nine months as it got tangled in the security clearances.
The projects at the Aerocity, despite being ready faced delays after security agencies raised objections due to the proximity of these hotels to the airport.
"The hotel is 650 metres away from runway and 200 meters from the hanger of Advanced Research Centre," he said, adding there was no security threat.
Constructed at the cost of Rs 900-crores, the hotel is located in close proximity to Gurgaon - one of the fastest growing commercial hubs in India.
"We are elated to put this vibrant hotel on the map for discerning luxury travelers. This hotel is a milestone indeed as it strengthens our ambition to become the top provider of a high end luxury lodging experience in the country," Gupta said.
It aims to offer guests a luxury experience paired with elegance and approachability, designed to reflect their own sophistication.
Speaking at the hotel's official launch, Rajeev Menon, Area Vice-President South-Asia, Marriott International, said: "the opening of the first JW Marriott in the capital marks a great milestone for us at Marriott International.
