"The International Elephant Congress and the ministerial Meet (50:50) scheduled to be held from 14- 19 November, 2013 stands postponed. The dates would be decided later," an Ministry of Environment and Forest statement said today.
Participants from around 50 countries that harbour wild populations of elephants were scheduled to take part in the conference.
The Congress intends to bring together scholars, conservation practitioners and policy makers to discuss issues on elephant conservation policy.
The ministerial summit was aimed at adopting a vision charter with common minimum global vision on conservation, management and welfare of elephants across all range countries.
