Fishermen stage road roko

Fishermen staged a road roko on the Nagapattinam-Chennai National Highway near here demanding that authorities take steps to free 22 of their counterparts, who, they claimed, were working in Saudi Arabia without any pay for the past six months.
The fishermen were working like bonded labourers without any pay and they had conveyed their grievances to members of their families here, fishermen representatives said.
Police assured them that they would convey their grievances to the central government and persuaded them to disperse.
