Fishermen to lay siege to Parliament on Mar 10: NFF
Press Trust of India Puducherry Members of the National Fish Workers Forum (NFF) will lay siege to the Parliament on March 10, in support of the fishermen's charter of demands, including a separate ministry for fisheries.
Fishermen from all the coastal states and delegates of inland fishermen would participate in a demonstration and lay siege to Parliament, NFF Chairman M Illango said in a release here today.
The protest was aimed at urging the government to form a separate ministry for development of fisheries and welfare of fishermen, grant of Scheduled Tribes status and supply of kerosene and diesel to them at cost price among other demands, Ilango, a former MLA of Puducherry, said.
