Five men were arrested for committing burglaries in godowns and truck jacking on national highways and the Outer Ring Road in Delhi and nearby areas, police said Wednesday.
One of the accused along with his other accomplices were also involved in robbing goods from online retail giant Amazon, a police official said.
Acting on a tip-off a trap was laid near Azadpur Railway station on Tuesday and the accused, identified as Ajay Yadav (38), Prakash Jha (28), Kishan (24), Manoj (26) and Arvind (28), were arrested, the official said.
During interrogation, Ajay Yadav, Prakash Jha and Kishan confessed to their involvement in a robbery of 225 bags (each containing 70kg) of betel nuts worth Rs 70 lakh after jacking a truck from the Ring Road in west Delhi's Kirti Nagar on September 9, he said.
The two cars used by them in committing the robbery were also recovered, the official said.
According to Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Rajiv Rajan, these cars were found to be purchased recently by the accused from the sale proceeds of stolen goods.
Manoj and Arvind revealed their involvement in burglary 100 bags of country-made pistols worth Rs 25 lakh, a case for which was registered at Kundli police station, Sonipat, the senior officer said.
Prakash Jha also confessed to his involvement in a theft case where in he along with his accomplices Sonu, Deepak, Nirgun, Sunil, Pappu and others robbed a consignment of Amazon goods, he said.
Two bags containing Amazon goods were also recovered from the car of the accused, the official said.
