Five persons, including a policeman, were arrested today for their alleged involvement in murder of a NRI at his native Kalliyewala village in this district, police said today.
Police recovered 12 bore gun and 32 bore revolver from their possession and the vehicle which was allegedly used by the accused in committing the crime.
46-year-old Harinder Singh, living in Canada, was shot dead by five persons on April 14 at his native village, police said.
The accused were apprehended from different locations in Punjab and Chandigarh, police said.
The cause behind the murder was a dispute of NRI with his sister-in-law Barjinder Kaur over some land in the village, police said.
Police has registered a case of murder against Kuldeep Singh and Kulbir Singh, both brothers, Baljinder Kaur, Rajinder Singh and Bhola Singh, an Inspector of Police posted at crime branch in Chandigarh.
While Baljinder was arrested from Mohali, Bohla was nabbed from Chandigarh, police said adding Rajinder was arrested from Moga city.
During a checking near Dagru railway level crossing here police intercepted a car and arrested its occupants Kuldeep and Kulbir.
Meanwhile, Harinder was cremated at his native village this evening as the family of the deceased desired that their member will be cremated only once all the accused were arrested.
