Five policemen were suspended for
their alleged involvement in illegal mining, the police said today.
"A surprise inspection was carried out yesterday at the police barriers in Girwa and Mataundh police stations areas on the UP-MP border and it was found that five policemen posted there to check illegal mining were prima facie involved in it," Superintendent of Police (SP) Sripati Misra said today.
All the five, identified as Virendra Yadav, Dharmendra Yadav, Mohanpal Singh, Jitendra Singh and Suryapal Singh of have been placed under suspension, the SP said.
He said that police station incharges have been asked to step up vigil to check illegal sand mining in the area.
