Five districts affected by flood in Assam

With flood waters entering some areas of Kamrup district today, a total of five districts have have been affected by flood in Assam.
According to an official release by Assam State Disaster Management Authority, flood waters affected residents in Kamrup district today in addition to four other districts -- Lakhimpur, Darrang, Sonitpur and Udalguri.
A total of five relief camps have been opened and nearly 10,000 people are taking shelter in those.
Flood has affected five revenue circles and 33 villages across the state.
As per official report, Brahmaputra at Neematighat, while its tributaries Jia Bharali and Beki at Sonitpur and Barpeta respectively are flowing above the danger level.

Meanwhile, authorities temporarily suspended plying of any boats, including mechanised or manual, on Brahmaputra with immediate effect due to rising of water level of the river.

More buses have been inducted from the state transport service for plying to and fro north Guwahati till water level of Brahmaputra comes down to its normal level
Over 25,000 people are affected in the first round of floods in the state.
Several villages at Panchmail near Tezpur Central University are facing threats of erosion after various places have been washed away during last few days as the water level of Jia Bharali continues to rise.

Several hectares of farmland have been destroyed because of the erosion in three revenue circles - Tezpur Sadar, Chariduar and Naduar.
Erosion continues in Rangajan Mising village, where over 100 households have been affected.
