Five DSG students on indefinite hunger strike over 'lack' of facilities

Five students of the Delhi University's Delhi School Of Journalism are on an indefinite hunger strike against lack of facilities.

The students started the hunger protest on Tuesday.

The administration issued a notice saying students participating in protest will have to face disciplinary action.

"The students protesting inside the campus of the Delhi School of Journalism were asked to call off the protest on August 29 by the Proctor who promised to visit us on September 14 with solutions," said a DSJ student.

"On September 14, the Proctor did come to visit us. She told us that all our demands will be met in a year or maybe later. She clearly mentioned that nothing can be done to speed up the process," the student said.

From September 17, the students against started their protest but later alleged they were manhandled by police.

"We haven't received any response from the VC so far despite our repeated attempts to meet him," the student said.

"Later, it was decided that until the time VC Yogesh Tyagi comes to us with a solution to all our problems, five of our students will sit in an indefinite hunger strike," the student added.

However, the protesting students said they are not going to end the protest until the administration comes out with a solution to their demands.
