Five Naxals held for torching vehicles in C'garh

Five Naxals, who were allegedly involved in torching two vehicles, including a passenger bus, in the insurgency-hit Dantewada district of Chhattisgarh two days back, were today arrested, police said.
The cadres were nabbed from the forests of Parcheli village under Katekalyan police station limits of the district by a joint team of CRPF and local police, an official told PTI.
Those arrested were identified as Hidma Vetti (22), Pojja Vetti (22), Somaru Mandavi (20), Somdu Vetti (20) and Fagnu Vetti (19), all natives of Parcheli village, located around 400 kms away from the state capital, the police official added.
On February 26, Naxals had torched a bus and a multi utility vehicle (MUV) after asking the occupants to alight at separate places in Katekalyan police station area to enforce their a day-long bandh call yesterday.
While the bus was set ablaze near Gatam village, the MUV was torched between Chikpal and Parcheli.
In the wake of the incidents, security forces had stepped up search operation to apprehend the rebels, who were involved in the incident, the official said.
According to him, some more ultras were yet to be arrested in connection with these incidents and efforts were on to trace them.
