The Delhi chief secretary SK Srivastava felicitated the sportspersons with a cheque of Rs 2 lakh each, a memento and a citation.
Apart from that, the chief secretary also distributed cash incentives and scholarship to some of the outstanding sportspersons in different disciplines.
In all cash incentive and scholarship amounting to Rs 2,83,17,500 was distributed to 3308 outstanding sportspersons of Delhi who have brought laurels for Delhi State by winning 1st, 2nd or 3rd position in different International and National tournaments during the period between April 1, 2012 and March 31 in 2013.
Chief secretary said the students of government schools are more aware with the hard realities of life as sports imbibes the feeling of healthy competition. He said it encourage cooperation and participation among the students.
