The Deputy Chairman of Supreme Court-appointed Special Investigating Team (SIT) on black money, Justice (retd.) Arijit Pasayat, today expressed satisfaction over the measures taken to stop generation of black money in the country and stressed that focus should be on checking the generation of black money at source.
He said the SIT has already made several recommendations to the Union government to tap the black money in the country.
After a meeting with officers of several government agencies dealing with economic affairs here, Pasayat said the SIT has already submitted six interim reports to the Apex Court and the next report is likely to be submitted in December.
"There is a need for coordinated effort between all the agencies to stop generation of black money. An elaborate discussion on it was held today among the officers of all the agencies," he said.
Among others who attended the day's meeting were the Director of Enforcement Directorate and senior IPS and IAS officers of the state.
Pasayat said activities of several private educational institutions, jewellery shops, real estate companies, self-styled godmen and dealing of mafias and dons are under scrutiny to tap the black money in Odisha.
