Sanchez met Mukherjee at Rashtrapati Bhavan yesterday.
In the meeting, the President said the contribution of Dr Sanchez to global peace is well recognised, according to a Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesperson.
"He has also done commendable work in the transformation of Costa Rica into a model economy. Costa Rica is today an example of a peace loving country with environment friendly policies," Mukherjee was quoted as saying.
The President said the bilateral relations between India and Costa Rica are characterised by warmth and friendship. He expressed hope that Dr Sanchez will take back with him not only memories of his stay in India but also message of friendship to the Latin American and Caribbean region, the spokesperson said.
