Inspector General (IG) of CRPF (Jammu sector) Abhay Vir Chauhan said the force would always remain indebted to the families of bravehearts who sacrificed their lives for the nation.

He was speaking at an event at CRPF camp Dheerti Dharore paying tributes to Havildar Harvinder Singh, who died while saving a pilgrim from falling stones.

Chauhan said Singh was awarded Prime Minister Jiwan Raksha Padak for his brave act.

"The force will always remain indebted to the families of martyrs and our bravehearts who gave the supreme sacrifice for the nation," he said.

The celebrations of Raising Day commenced with paying tributes to the martyrs and were followed by a series of programs.

About 1,000 saplings were planted by CRPF officers and personnel at Dheerti Dharore camp, reiterating commitment of the force towards environment protection and afforestation.

The IG felicitated those officers and personnel who were awarded the Director General's Commendation Discs and Commendation Certificate for their outstanding performance in operational and administrative fields.

In another event at the CRPF camp, Bantalab, officers and personnel paid homage at the 'Martyrs memorial'.

The chief guest of the event, IG CRPF (Jammu and Kashmir Zone) K Vijay Kumar recalled the prestigious history of the force and appealed to the personnel to perform their duties and responsibilities with full honesty and conviction.
