"There are separate committees for each of the six forest divisions probing simultaneously and will be completed within nine months," Parliamentary Affairs Minister Saryu Roy said.
The government's reply came after ruling BJP MLAs Nirbhay Kumar Sahabadi and Laxman Tudu brought the issue to its notice through the Call Attention Motion.
The legislators alleged that maps of thousands of acres of forest land (maps/documents) were missing from the records of Forest Divisions because of alleged nexus between officials and land mafia and demanded probe by a House Committee.
The remaining forest land documents/maps were either torn or unavailable as they had become too old and that efforts were on to get them through various sources like Guljarbagh Press, Patna.
