Former AMC councillor's husband shot at

Husband of a former Amritsar Municipal Corporation (AMC) councillor was severely injured when at least nine persons opened-fire at him over an old enmity, police said today.
The victim identified as Joginderpal is a member of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) while his wife Anita Rani was a councillor in AMC from the year 2002 to 2007 on a Congress party's ticket.
The victim, who received bullet shots in his abdomen and arms, has been admitted to a private hospital, police said.
The miscreants, who are victim's relatives, have been identified as Bobby, Masti, Nageena, Gingi and Anand. They were accompanied by some other persons too. Late last night, they all forcibly entered Joginderpal's house and shot him with pistol and attacked him with other weapons too, they added.

The accused who are absconding, have been booked under various IPC sections and the Arms Act, they said.
The victim had filed complaints against the accused in past over some property-related disputes and certain other reasons, they said.
