Former Army Chief Gen V K Singh has asked people to take up cudgels against corruption which is "eating into the vitals of the nation and society".
Corrupt practices have become a way of life for many and it is the common man who is bearing the brunt of rampant corruption, he said at a function at Dharuhera, 16-km from here, yesterday.
Instead of being servants of the masses, the ruling elite has assumed the role of masters, Singh said.
Corruption is eating into the vitals of the nation and society, he said calling for an immediate overhaul of the system.
"Bossism is holding sway over democratic functioning to the dismay of the common man," the former army chief said.
Singh was honoured for his services to the nation at the function organised by the Young Indian Organisation.
