Aalo West constituency died at a hospital in Guwahati after prolonged illness, official sources said today.
Kirge, who was elected as MLA from Janata Dal in 1990, is survived by wife and a son.
He died last evening.
Before joining politics, Kirge Eshi was a Circle Officer and served in various districts within the state.
He was selected as General Secretary of Government Higher Secondary School at Aalo in 1983 and General Secretary of Jawaharlal Nehru College at Pasighat during his college days.
Governor General (Retd) J J Singh expressed grief on the death of Kirge. He said that Kirge was a distinguished personality, who made immense contributions towards socio-economic development of people in various capacities during his long and distinguished administrative and political career.
Meanwhile, BJP mourned the death of former MLA and BJP State Council Member and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul.
