Former bank MD found guitly of accepting bribe

A local court here held former Managing Director of the Amritsar Central Cooperative Bank, Surinderpal Singh Chhina guilty of amassing disproportionate wealth and accepting bribe and recruiting staff in the bank.
The Additional Session Judge Navjot Sohal pronounced him guilty and reserved the order on the quantum of punishment to January 23.
Chinna, who was present in the court, was arrested and sent to jail.
Chhina was charged with amassing disproportionate wealth from his known sources of income, and accepting bribe for appointing bank staff, including eight accountants, 14 entry clerks, 50 watchmen and peons, during his tenure as MD of the bank between 1996 and 2002.
