The BEO Ramashish Prasad, now retired from service, was arrested from his house last night, said Sub-divisional Police Officer, Sanjay Kumar.
Kumar said a para-teacher Brajbhusan Lal had registered an FIR in Chatarpur police station in 2011 accusing Prasad of collecting Rs 12.66 lakh illegally in lieu of appointment of para-teachers, while he was the BEO in Chatarpur block.
On the directive of the administration, he said a probe was conducted and Prasad was found guilty, leading to his arrest.
