Former CAG V N Kaul gets Padma Bhushan, Kilemsungla Padma Shri

Former CAG V N Kaul and UPSC member P Kilemsungla have been chosen for this year's Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri awards respectively for their distinguished work.
Former UPSC member Parveen Talha is also among 101 recipient of Padma Shri award.
71-year-old Kaul was Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) between 2002-08. A former IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre, Kaul held various positions in the central government.
He had served as secretaries in ministries of coal, chemicals and fertilizers and petroleum and natural gas. Kaul, who has a Masters Degree in History from St Stephens' College of Delhi University, hails from Jammu and Kashmir.
Kaul has been awarded Padma Shri for his contribution in the field of civil services.
Kilemsungla, who is the first woman from Nagaland to be appointed as member of Union Public Service Commission (UPSC), has been awarded Padma Shri for her contribution in the field of literature and education.
Educationist Kilemsungla was appointed as member of UPSC, which conducts prestigious civil services examination to select IAS, IPS and IFS officers among others, on August 19 last year.
She hails from Kohima in the north eastern state. Kilemsungla has served as a member of Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) between February 1, 2007 and September 12, 2012.
Kilemsungla also worked as acting chairperson of NPSC from September 13, 2012 till her retirement on January 31.
62-year-old Kilemsungla, a noted educationist, has been a lecturer in Kohima Arts College and also taught at the Nagaland College of Teachers Education (NCTE).
She was also Principal of District Institute of Educational Training, Government Polytechnic and then NCTE, Kohima.
Another former UPSC member Parveen Talha has been selected for Padma Shri for her contribution in civil service.
Talha, a former offier of Indian Revenue Service--Customs and Central Excise, became UPSC member on September 30, 2004 till October 3, 2009.
She was the first ever Muslim woman to enter any Class-I civil service through the Civil Services examination then.
Talha was educated at Loreto Convent High School, Lucknow. She did Masters of Arts (Economics) from Lucknow University. She also taught in Lucknow University from 1965 to 1969.
69-year-old Talha also won the President's award in 2000 for her distinguished record of service. She was also the first Muslim woman to be appointed UPSC member.
Talha had also served as former Director General of National Academy of Customs, Excise and Narcotics, Faridabad and had been closely involved with tax reforms and the liberalisation policy of the government.
President Pranab Mukherjee today approved conferment of 127 Padma Awards--two Padma Vibhushan, 24 Padma Bhushan and 101 Padma Shri.
