A court here today held former IPS officer Saji Mohan guilty of pilfering seized contraband when he was posted as Zonal Director of Narcotics control Bureau (NCB) in the city.
The Special Court of Justice Shalini Singh Nagpal will pronounce the quantum of sentence on Monday (March 11).
Arguments were already completed in the case.
Saji is accused of pilfering the contraband seized from various places in Punjab and Jammu with the help of his sub-ordinate colleague Balwinder Singh during his tenure in Chandigarh.
The duo was booked in 2009 after the matter came to light.
The unclaimed seizures were stored in the storeroom of the then NCB headquarters office here in Sector 2 and Mumbai Anti Terrorism Squad (ATS) sleuths had arrested the former NCB officer with 12 kg heroin in January 2009.
Saji, a 1995-batch IPS officer, has also been booked in another corruption case by Chandigarh police. He is accused of misappropriating Rs 13.81 lakh in this case. The case is pending before a court here.
