In his complaint the trader, Sandeep Kumar, said he had received a call from unknown number on September 7 and the caller claimed that he was having some objectionable pictures of his family.
He received some more calls from another numbers wherein callers claimed to have pictures, Ludhiana Rural SSP Surjit Singh said.
Callers were allegedly demanding Rs four lakh from Sandeep and threatened that if he failed to pay money, then they would upload the photos on the social media.
The cyber cell of Punjab police identified the callers and arrested them.
The accused were identified as Munish Malhotra, a resident of Malhi Colony in Jagraon, Prince Nijhawan, a resident of Moti Bagh Jagraon, Pushkaran Sharma, a resident of Tehsil Road Jagraon and Mani Kant Goel a resident of Guru Ka Bhatha Jagraon.
All of them have been booked under relevant sections of the IPC and IT Act.
