An investigating officer said the accused, who have three trucks, would bag contract of transporting steels and iron rods from businessmen and later dupe them by not delivering the goods at the destination.
The normally would provide fake documents like driving licence, registration plate, insurance papers and voter IDs while bagging the contract, making it difficult to trace them later, according to police.
On October 12, the accused looted 75 tonnes of steel from Bhusan Steel Limited situated on Link Road adopting such modus operandi, the officer said.
"Three trucks and fake documents have been seized from them. We are interrogating them to get further details," the officer added.
