The accused -- Harish Kumar of Meerut; Rahul, Harendra, and Ajeet of Ghaziabad -- were arrested from Siyani Gate area, a police officer said, adding that some ATM cards and mobile phones were seized from them.
"The members of the gang would first publish ads in national newspapers. When interested candidates contacted them over phone, they would ask them to deposit a registration fee in their bank accounts. After the amount is deposited, the accused switched off their phones," the officer said.
"We got to know about the gang a few days ago when some youths registered complaints," the officer said, adding that a case had been registered against the accused and they were being interrogated.
