The victims, visiting a nearby temple, were taking bath inside the pit made in the Cauvery river bed. The pit was dug to enable devotees to take bath as the river coursing through the area was totally dry, police said.
Two women, a 12-year-old girl and a 11-year-old boy were killed in the mishap.
