Cyber crime police today arrested four persons for allegedly running a racket wherein they and others cheated unemployed youths of lakhs of rupees by promising them jobs in various government departments.
The arrested --- Ravi Naik, Ramchandra Naik, Suryanarayana and M A Raoof -- worked as agents for alleged racketeers, Ramesh Singh and Rakesh Singh, both from Delhi, for luring unemployed job-seekers.
Ramesh and Rakesh created a website in the name of 'Gramin Swa Rojgar Yojana' posing as an undertaking of the central government, police said.
In April 2015, they gave wide publicity through online job sites and also local Telugu newspapers, stating there are 2,300 vacancies of various posts such as panchayat surveyor, block development surveyor, district development surveyor, state development surveyor, and offered salaries ranging from Rs 10,000 to 30,000 based on rank and qualification, as per a release issued by City Police.
Police said Ramesh started operating from small premises at posh Banjara Hills area here and appointed one Vijayanand as in-charge of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states and also recruited two women staffers as telecallers.
Thousands of unemployed youths sent their resumes to Ramesh's office in response to advertisements and approached the office in-charge who conducted 'interviews' of job-seekers with the help of the two women staffers and gave 'appointment orders' after collecting Rs one to two lakh from each of them.
The accused also convinced the youths that their jobs are permanent in nature and they need to bribe higher-level officials based in Delhi.
Vijayanand also recruited 4 consultants - Mobin, Zakir, Venu and Kushal -- to bring unemployed youths with the false promise of providing permanent government jobs, police said.
Based on the complaint lodged by one Ram Ganesh, who attended an interview at the 'Gramin Swa Rojgar Yojana' office and was lured and convinced to pay a bribe of Rs two lakh, a case was registered at Cyber Crime police station.
During the course of investigation, the Cyber Crime Police arrested Ravi Naik, Ramchandra Naik, Suryanarayana and M A Raoof from a location here and seized two laptops, two computer CPUs, one printer and bundles of bio-data forms of applicants from the premises of their office.
Special teams have been formed to nab other accused namely Ramesh, Rajesh, Vijayanand, Kushal, Mobin, Zakir, Venu and the women staffers who are absconding, the release added.
