The accident took place on the Basti-Siddhartnagar road last night when both the vehicles rushed to cross a narrow culvert, they said.
The deceased have been identified as car driver Hriday Ram (32), Abdul Kalim (32), Javed Ahmed (35) and Jamal Ahmed (30).
The injured have been admitted to the district hospital.
