In two separate traps, the sleuths of Yavatmal and Amravati Anti Corruption Bureaus have arrested four persons red handed while accepting bribes.
The ACB sleuths led by Dy SP Satish Deshmukh caught a tout who worked for an assistant engineer and his office assistant at Dhanki village in the district while accepting Rs 11,000 from the complainant and arrested them yesterday.
The complainant, son of a farmer from Dhanki, had approached the assistant engineer Alkesh Agrawal (23) and his office assistant Ravi Sanap (23) for a new electricity connection for his farm.
The duo allegedly demanded Rs 11,000. After he approached the Yavatmal ACB, a trap was laid at MSEDCL office at Dhanki.
Alkesh directed the complainant to hand over the money to Vaibhav Kothari, his tout. As Vaibhav accepted the cash in the presence of Sanap, the ACB sleuths arrested all three.
In another case, assistant sub-inspector Madhukar Kamble (53) of Wadgaon Road police station in Yavatmal city was arrested by Amravati ACB squad led by M D Chimte while accepting Rs 1,500 from a youth.
The accused had demanded the bribe from the youth for not registering an FIR for cognisable offence.
The complainant was facing a criminal case which Kamble was investigating. Kamble allegedly threatened to frame him up in a cognisable offence case if he didn't pay up. Further probe is on.
