The mishap occurred during the wee hours when eight persons, all of them sweater vendors from Nepal, were going to Vijayawada from Guntur and their vehicle overturned near Kunchanapalli village in Mangalagiri town, Thadepalli circle inspector Harikrishna said.
A police patrolling team which was near the spot, rushed to the injured for their rescue and while they were trying to shift the victims into their police jeep, a speeding truck hit them from behind, injuring two personnel, the officer said.
