Three persons of a family, including two women, were killed when the car in which they were travelling, fell into a cesspit at Kandrika, at the outskirts of Vijayawada city early morning today.
Police said that the family of an advocate was going to Nuzvid, when the driver lost control and the car fell into a huge cesspit on the roadside.
The victims' bodies were retrieved and the names of those dead have been identified as K Mukherjee, his wife Sushma and daughter Rajyalakshmi.
In another road accident, one person was killed and three others were injured when a lorry knocked down a bike at Jaggaiahpet bypass road of Krishna district today.
After the mishap, two other bikes coming from behind the lorry, lost control and hit a vehicle resulting in injuries to three people.
The lorry driver escaped after the incident took place.
