Police today claimed to have solved the murder case of an army jawan with the arrest of four persons, including a relative of the victim.
Rocky Raina of Akhnoor was murdered on the intervening night of January 23 and 24 by unidentified persons in Khowara area of Khour district, according to a complaint filed with the police by Rocky's wife Reeta.
Rocky was working as sepoy and was posted in Chennai.
During investigation it was found that a white Alto car was parked at the scene of the crime.
"Working on these clues and other technical leads, the police zeroed in on one suspect namely Vikash Raina, who is a first cousin of the deceased" a police spokesperson said.
Vikas confessed to his involvement in the murder along with three associates - Gagandeep, Rajeev Kumar and Parvinder Kumar, he said.
These four persons came to Akhnoor in Vikas' car and asked the victim to meet near Fowhara Chowk. When Rocky reached there, the accused asked him to accompany them to Khowara to purchase a motorcycle, he said.
"The accused attacked Rocky in Khowara with stones and a sharp edged weapon," the spokesman said, adding that the weapon used in the murder has been recovered.
Further investigation is on to find out the motive and also if there was involvement of any other person, he said.
