Four year RI for quarantine official in bribery case

A CBI court here today awarded four years rigorous imprisonment to a senior official of the regional plant quarantine station in a bribery case.
Acting on a complaint, CBI Anti-Corruption wing had nabbed K T Suresh, Assistant Plant Protection Officer, plant quarantine station here, while accepting a bribe of Rs 2,000 from an individual in 2012, a CBI release said.
Investigations revealed that Suresh had also received Rs one lakh from another city based firm.
Additional Special Judge Meena Kumari sentenced Suresh to 48 months rigorous imprisonment besides imposing a fine of Rs 22,500, the release said.
