In Haryana, Narnaul reeled under biting cold, recording a low of 2 degrees Celsius, five notches below the normal level.
Icy cold winds also swept Hisar in Haryana, where the minimum temperature settled at 3.4 degrees Celsius, which was five notches below normal.
Karnal, too, was in the grip of severe cold conditions at 4.2 degrees, down four degrees. Ambala's low settled at 8.8 degrees Celsius.
The minimum temperature at Chandigarh also dipped further since yesterday to settle at 7.8 degrees Celsius.
Ludhiana recorded a low of 4.6 degrees Celsius, down two degrees while Patiala registered 7.6 degrees.
During the past few days, the day temperatures too have registered a downward trend at most places in Haryana and Punjab, settling in the range of 16-20 degrees Celsius.
