During a meeting with Das, Gadkari asked him to send a proposal to the Centre on 115 medium irrigation canals for renovation so that their full capacity could be utilised, an official release said here.
The Union minister for transport, national highways, shipping, water resources and Ganga rejuvenation also advised him to go for pipelines in place of canal and encourage drip irrigation scheme for better result.
On the advice of Gadkari, a team headed by principal secretary of the water resources department will visit Maharashtra for observation and study, the release said.
Gadkari asked to send all proposals related to irrigation to the Centre.
Besides Das, Agriculture Minister Randhir Singh and senior officials were present at the meeting.
