Ticket distribution, fine-tuning the party for upcoming assembly and general elections, and ties between the party and government were discussed at several meetings Gandhi had with Congress workers
On a two-day visit to Rajasthan, the Congress scion, who arrived here this morning, also took feedback from workers and leaders about the party's affairs and political situation in the state.
"The vice president is of the view that the party at the block-level should be strengthened and leaders empowered," Vimal Bhati, Sewa Dal (Bikaner) rural president, said.
"MLAs and MPs should also work in coordination with the party," Bhati, who attended one of the meetings, said.
Another party leader said it was suggested at the meeting that there should be two categories of leaders -- those who wish to contest polls and the others who are keen to do party work.
"Proper and transparent ticket distribution are among other issues discussed at the meetings," party leaders said.
Gandhi suggested strong candidates of NSUI and Youth Congress should be given a chance to contest elections and not those who were defeated twice or more, party sources said.
