'Gandhijayanti Sevana Vaaram' is being held to commemorate the birthday of the Father of the Nation today.
Apart from the various district administrations, several departments and institutions like Information Office, Police, Excise, Health, Local Bodies, Kudumbasree, State Youth Welfare Board, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Cycle Polo Association, Khadi Board, Gandhi Bhavan, residents' associations and other civil society bodies are taking part in the celebrations.
Excise Minister K Babu inaugurated 'Sevana Vaaram' at the Durbar Hall grounds.
Screening of films on Gandhi's life have also been organised.
Sabarmathi Cultural Forum and the District Information Office are holding a Gandhi film festival. 'Gandhi My Father', by Feroz Abbas Khan, will be the inaugural film at the event.
